The guitar is an instrument that has a place in almost every field of music, classical, jazz, rock, folk, blues, and its reach extends round the world. Most guitarists work in one camp or another, but Eleanora Strino has managed to straddle many different forms and languages. Her latest CD on CAM JAZZ is Lumithia, a slice of personal alchemy on which she turns the wood and wire and metal pegs of the instrument into art of the purest form. It’s rare that a solo guitar recital reaches so far and so deep, another significant step in the progress of an important contemporary artist.
