The Inventor development team is pleased to announce the availability of Inventor OEM 2021 is a development platform that allows you to create a stand-alone application built on Autodesk Inventor technology.
Inventor OEM is a development platform that allows developers to create a unique and powerful stand-alone application built on Autodesk Inventor technology. Your customer’s experience includes a fully customized application branded with your logos and icons, splash screen and application name in addition to including your own installer and licensing.
Unlike the add-in approach, which extends Inventor, Inventor OEM allows developers to create their own branded products based on Inventor technology. Branded products present their own identity while at the same time being completely compatible with other Inventor applications.
Autodesk views Inventor OEM as a means to further extend Inventor technology into new markets and industries. Inventor OEM can be used as a platform by independent developers to create products to address unique market needs or respond to niche opportunities.
Autodesk Inventor OEM is essentially Inventor with a few changes, listed below:
– It is modular. You can choose to have an application that only needs part functionality, part and assembly functionality, or part, assembly, and drawing functionality.
– The branding is configurable so you can define your own application name, splash screen, application icons, executable name, etc.
– It is fully independent of Inventor with regards to shared files and registry entries. This means it can be installed on a machine that has Inventor or another OEM application and run side-by-side.
– It is independent of Autodesk licensing, allowing you to incorporate your own licensing.
The only limitations on applications that Inventor OEM cannot be used for are:
– pure data translation applications (applications that convert from one format to another), and
– applications that emulate and therefore compete directly with Autodesk Inventor.
