Recording Club of 1996 is the eighth studio album by the Danish rock band The Blue Van, marking the 30th anniversary of the group, which has maintained its original line-up since its formation in 1996. The material was recorded at the legendary Farvemøllen studio in Copenhagen, produced by Mads Mølgaard Helbæk, shortly before the studio’s permanent closure.
Conceptually, the album draws inspiration from Nina Simone’s philosophy that music must reflect its time. The lyrics cover a wide range of social and personal themes: from the struggle against toxic masculinity (the song “Some Boys”) to an anthem supporting diversity and self-expression (“Beautiful Human”).
