Alev Lenz’s album “4 in a Cycle of Thirds” is a sophisticated conceptual project based on the idea of using each note of the chromatic scale as a foundation for individual compositions. Recorded at Max Richter’s studio, the work explores sound physics through Steinway piano resonances and drone structures. The musical landscape synthesizes academic minimalism, chamber music, and cinematic scores with traditional Turkish instrumentation, specifically the Anatolian saz. The project integrates the artist’s personal cultural heritage with modern compositional techniques, resulting in a profound, meditative sound that transcends conventional genre boundaries.
