This album is an anthology of film music from the 1940s, focusing on the birth and golden age of film noir and classic detective cinema. The collection demonstrates the transformation of film scoring from traditional orchestral styles to the darker, psychologically charged compositions characteristic of the post-war era.
The tracklist features iconic themes by Adolph Deutsch from “The Maltese Falcon” (1941), widely considered the first classic noir, and the tense scores of Miklós Rózsa for “Double Indemnity” and “The Naked City”. Special attention is given to the Sherlock Holmes film series featuring music by Frank Skinner, as well as psychological thrillers like Bronisław Kaper’s “Gaslight”. All material has undergone digital remastering in 2026.
