Vienna-based trio The Pet Goats have stuck to what they know on this nine-song, three-chord fuzzed-up record.

Singer-guitarist Andrew Mangold half-speaks, half growls over brooding or full-blast guitar, alternately delivering disdain at our morally bankrupt world or heading straight for the opiate of grungey rock and beer.

At times there is a certain Lou Reed swagger to Mangold’s delivery, but indignant anger alone doesn’t forgive a lack of eloquence: “We need wars, we need cutbacks… We have planes, we have bombs, you are dumb and live with mum,” he sings rather awkwardly on the roiling Come On Get Ready.
